Just out of curiousity, anyone chew gum whilst cleaning the rat building? And if so have you noticed after a few hours there are flavor crystals of some sort in the gum, or at least a mild grit with thankfully no additional flavor? I quit smoking about a month and a half ago and have taken up the chum gewing habit is the reason I ask, wondering if I should abstain from chewing while cleaning...

Whatever you're ending up chewing you're also inhaling unless you wear a dust mask. Chewing gum while you're cleaning probably won't make much difference either way.

rarely chew gum myself, to be honest..however if you are getting 'grit' in your gum after cleaning rat cages I expect you are inhaling dust and other debris from either the dirty or clean bedding (or both). I suggest either use a mask, keep your mouth closed or don't chew come while cleaning.

how many times do you drop the gum???

....might just be the gum breaking down itself?

change pieces more often......you seen the commercials??? they will find you.....

....if it was sawdust/wood flour...it would be chewy ?

.....(I don't chew while cleaning,, but you have me intrested)...experiment time ....!,...(IF I remember)....LOL

Thats too funny. Thanks to all that responded. It wasnt a serious post. Yes a dust mask would help, and breathing throuh my nose also would. I knew what my flavor crystals must be, just thought it was mildly amusing
