Finally!!!

54podge May 27, 2009 06:58 AM

after much effort on his part and patience on mine, my Brooks finally convinced his mate to give it up and I witnessed my first lock-up last night! OK, so if yesterday was 5/26, how long should I expect to have before the eggs come?

Continue to feed her normally for a month. She may go off feed but offer anyway. After a month put a nest box in with her. See the previous post and answer for details. She will shed her skin about 3 to 10 days before she starts laying. About six weeks from mating to laying is normal.

...sometimes they are still hungry, but don't have room to eat their normal prey items, due to the eggs taking up so much room in their bodies. Offer her hoppers or fuzzies, and I bet you she'll take them.

Give them another day, separate, feed both, wait a day or two, do it again for 2-3 days, should be good. Probably are good after tomorrow, but doesn't hurt to give a second helpin'! I got 8 duds and 3 good eggs from a very experienced pair, I think I separated too early, he's going in for a second clutch attempt.
