Lets talk about the most under-rated

symetryexotics May 27, 2009 06:51 PM

I have to bring this up because there is A LOT of beautiful Boas
that are being showed off recently andI feel a 'loner' is present
lol!! WHERE ARE THE ANERYTHRISTIC BOAS AT!!?? I feel they are the
most UNDER-RATED morph on this market today. Why is that? I have
tried to think it through but just does not make sense, 'It is
recessive', 'It keeps pattern', 'without this gene we would not
know what a snow (or Moon) is', and it just boggles me. I guess
I am just suprised that the market value is not the same, if not
higher that the Albino. We are also still touching the surface
for throwing Anerythristic genes into things as well, so there
is NO SLOW DOWN for the market on Anery's. Was there a HUGE
economy breakdown (worse than now) that people just started
shoving them off for $50 more than a NORMAL Columbian, and then
prices stuck? I mean they are recessive, should it not have been
the Dom's like Hypo? Lets talk sense for a quick second....

Anery x Boawoman Caramels
Anery x Leo (T I and T II) GO BIG MIKE ON THOSE 2 ABOVE!!
Anery x Aztec
Anery x Marron
Anery x Motley GO BIG MIKE AGAIN!!
Anery x Jungle GO FRANK MARTIN!!
Anery x Arabesque I think Frank Martin
Harly's and a WHOLE BUNCH OF OTHER STUFF has not been plugged
into this beautiful recessive morph yet. I guess I am trying to
get answers, thats all.....

The Type II's are a TOTALLY different story....

I also want it to be known that I have never had a clutch drop
in my care. This is just curiousity. I am a young buck in this
Industry trying to feed my addiction to Boas and hopefully make
a lot of friends along the way. I hope all is well with you guys
and thanks for hearing me out. I hope no one took offense to this
thread.

I agree with you 100%! I have always been a huge fan of the anerys and ghosts and I also can't understand why they don't get more attention.

I agree that anery boas tend to be under-rated but I think a big part of that is due to the 'brown-out' effect. As boas age they gain yellow (like a lot of snakes do) and this combined with the darker melanin gives the snake a brown/tan look. I have seen quite a few adult anery boas that look like normal colombians with not very good color.

I think with more selective breeding we'll start to see more boas that keep the monochromatic black and white look, it's just going to take a lot of time.

Ruben's Perfect Anery is my ideal of what an anery "should" look like, he just won't sell her to me yet. lol

I also think part of the reason they are so 'cheap' is because anery has been around a looooong time.

on a side note -
I love jungles and I love anery, the idea of an anery jungle gives me shivers of delight but jungles tend to get rich yellow undertones which in my limited little opinion is not a good match with the anery. Again, selective breeding projects will probably make them more crisp and contrasting.

-April
ps. I posted a pic of my new anery guy in DrasticPlastic's thread below. I think they are pretty awesome snakes, can't wait to see how mine turns out.

Reddog,
I am curious, and please don't take this wrong as it is very hard to express tone in writing sometimes, but is it that you plain don't like the anery morph, or do appreciate it for what it is and just prefer color? I am curious because my husband REALLY does not care for the albinos because he thinks pinks and oranges and yellows don't belong on a big strapping snake, but he does appreciate them for what they are and sees the value in them that others see.

I personally love VARIETY. I think that comes from my artistic side. I love greayscale, color, and pattern, as well as any combination of the above. I think I am one of those people that need to have "one of everything". Only like some women it's not purses and shoes, it's snakes LOL!!!

Best wishes.

For what?? it's what you have to say. I'm an American and believe in free speech. I appreciate your honesty and I Would have to disagree. The orange and yellow color's on albino boa's is amazing. Which is just my opinion. Thank's again,,, Joseph

Hey Kenny,

I am working with Anery boas! I have all types of Anerys! My favorites are the Black and White ones!

I bred my Ghost het Albino to a Jaguar a while back and I am growing up some babies 50% het albino 100% Het Anery...

Imagine full reverse tail stripes on a Black and White Boa!!!! Now that will be very cool!

Some people like the Yellows and Reds...I like them too...but there is alot to be done with Black& White!!

That's my 2 cents!

No litters yet here either (my collection is young), but I love the anery types. There is just something about the greyscale stuff that I really dig. I have a pair of DH Type II anery and leopards, a Type II and a hypo het Type II pair and an anery Lonicauda which I hope to get a boyfriend for soon. I also have VPI axanthic ball pythons and anery corns. I can't wait to make some combos for myself down the line! Now, don't get me wrong, I really like the Type I/columbian anery too, but being a smaller gal the typical size of the CA is attractive to me LOL!

Good post! I like reading the opinions on this morph.

I think that people don't get as excited about Anery's until they own one , then they fully understand the appreciation. At least that's how I feel about them .

> pos het Albino male (with white scale markers) -

> And one that my daughter has claimed as her own. (who am I to argue). Kyndra (my daughter) usually loves colorful things - girlie colors. But this Boa is by far her favorite ---

I for one appreciate all aspects of color in boas, black and white being but two colors in the spectrum. Pro=duced litters from two Ghost females this year. One bred to another Ghost for Supers, Ghosts and Anerys. The other was a test breeding of a pos het male to a Super Ghost female which did not prove so DH Ghosts 50% het Albino from a coral line. A few babies....

The prob Super Ghosts came out super light...

And some Anery's...
