RE: Albino Blizzard Leo

buddha04 May 27, 2009 08:23 PM

I recently acquired a albino blizzard leo. From her size, I would guess that she is 6-8 months old. She is healthy but seems to keep her eyes closed most of the time. I recall reading that it takes some time for the red eyes of an albino gecko to adapt to light. Just how long does it take for their red eyes to adapt?

What you read is incorrect. Albinos are sensitive to bright light their WHOLE lives. I'd keep them away from fluorescent or really bright light as much as possible to reduce stress.
thanks,
Matt

Matt -

Thank you! The pic you attached is pretty much like the gecko I got. Sadly, one week after getting the gecko, it died. It's my 5th leo so I am not a total newbie with leos (and I have had other lizards before). Perhaps it died due to stress as I use incandescent light for heat (plus an under the tank heat pad)?
