Prelay shed stuck of face advice please

jamesalternafan May 28, 2009 11:25 AM

She had her prelay shed and retained some skin. My usual course of action is a lukewarm bath and some running through my hands to slough it off. This time I did that but there is a piece right on left side of her head from just behind the eye to about the end of her head. It is not coming off easily I soaked her to get most of it and tried to go in manually on this small piece and she is not happy about it. I am concerned about the amount of stress she is undergoing so I left her overnight to try herself. Anyway it did not come off. Should I soak again and rub it off her face with my hand even with her flipping out or is there another option?

Thanks in advance
James

try using a tape to get it off

This sounds like a bad idea this is really right behind her eye. I would have to tape her eye too. If I do this after I soak her the tape will get too wet to be useful. Can you go in to more detail about what to do or is it a joke?

Not too much detail to go in to. small piece of scotch tape, stick it to the dead skin, and gently pull off the dead skin. I've done this to take off stuck skin on the head as well as stuck eye caps. If you're not comfortable with it, try soaking her again and rubbing it off. she's not going to be happy but it needs to come off one way or the other.

A small piece of stuck shed is not a big deal - leave it there and she'll likely knock it off herself or shed it with the next shed.

If it really bothers you put her inside a damp towel she'll be less stressed than soak and will likely just chill inside of it for a while then make her move around as she moves the rough towel should dislodge the stubborn shed.

Unless it's an eye cap or a really big piece of stuck skin - I'd just leave it.

If it still bothers you after she's dropped her eggs, worry about it then. Like Tosha said, it will probably come off with her next shed anyway. I know your intentions are good, but I'm afraid your efforts are causing way more distress than that little piece of stuck shed ever will.
