taming a ball

have a problem. the ball python i got was suppose to be captive bred, but as aggressive as he is i'm starting to doubt it. at first i thought that it was because he was getting ready to shed. he's shed and i thought the problem would be over. be he tweeks out at anything, making handling a very painful experience. he's about 2.5 feet long, so it's not really a big bite, but i'm starting to get bites on top of bites. i don't think that he's streesed, which i know can be a cause. he gets 12 hours of heat lamp light and 12 hours of heat from a moon bulb. temp and humidity are good. he has a slight case of mites, but it is being treated with 'Reptile Relief' and it is working very well. is there any way to calm him down? i need some help please.

How long have you had him?

I got some adult females in and a few of them were snapping at me everytime I slide the rack open... after a few weeks they settled down and while they still do not enjoy being handled they don't attempt to bite anymore.

If you just got him leave him alone for awhile and let him settle in... if you have had him for over a month and he's still snappy then you are just going to have to keep handling him until he calms down.

Good luck.
