Disinfectants for cages

MikeMurphy May 29, 2009 02:32 PM

Do any of you use the packaged disinfectants that are made specifically for reptile cages (Zoo Med, Terrafauna, etc)? I usually just use a solution of bleach and water and my gut tells me that's still the best. But if any of these work well too I might give them a shot. They seem like they might be a might less "noxious" than bleach. Or, at least they won't bleach your carpet!

I used to use Chlorhexidine, there was a brand name Nolvasan years back...anyway it is a vet office disinfectant that many keepers use.
I switched to good old Listerine...which is a powerful disinfectant yet people swish it around their mouths daily... it leaves a clean smell and most likely kills all cooties...its cheap too

ps... i would not let bleach anywhere near my snakes...
