biting?

daniellelivesss May 29, 2009 09:09 PM

my twoish year old cali king has recently been biting, and i guess she's now developed teeth cause she draws blood. i'm thinking shes biting cause shes' hungry and my fingers look like food, but she bit me today after i fed her and went to put her away. Any ideas for another reason she might have started biting? she's never bitten me before these past couple times.

Either she's seeing you as a possible predator or threat or else its a feeding reaction.

could it be that i havent been handling her lately because the last few times i have, she pooped on me, so now im hesitant to handle her.

Your nervousness alone could be provoking the response. You've got to be calm and confident and you can't fake that. You've got to really not care if you get pooped on or bit...it's really not that big of a deal anyway.

The snake will pick up on the nervousness and then it'll get scared and start thinking "What are you nervous about? What are you about to do to me?" Then there is your reaction.

The nervousness is pretty similar to a predators excitement to its meal. You've got to eliminate that frame of mind.

If you are cool, the snakes will generally be cool also.
