You took the words right out of my mouth. I have been reading the threads and I have to say that Chris has very valid points. I understand alanvines interest and sort of challenge to see if the animals can cross-breed as well, but my point of view is that if the chameleon community has not had enough success breeding a species consistently, why worry or even investigate in producing a cross-breeding. If the effors of breeding C.j. merumontana are ever successful on a constant basis (which so far they have not been) then I can see anyone having enough time to "play around" crossing them but so far the C.J. xantholophus is the only one bred with relative success and most of the time they are simply still being imported from Hawaii.
I am not a fan of cross-breeding or hybridizing anything as I believe that is playing God to some degree. I can't condemn anyone for trying but I have to agree that we should attempt to get better at breeding a species before thinking of breeding crosses or hybrids.
Just my opinion,
Ivan
