The babies???

you can't, they will fry....

as soon as you see one head cut out, you need to take them out carefully and place them into a different box ,and keep them as warm /close to 88-90 as possible....
I stick them on a shelf in a baby box usually...and they are around 85 degrees, but they are ready to hatch and I may have cut them by then...
you have to keep a careful eye on them and check them every morning and night so they don't fry....

....I have had a few hatch without me knowing it and they were ok, hiding among the other egg piles and all...but they will climb and they will fry/burn/dryout...

...good luck...

To avoid them touching the heat element you can take the 1/4" hardware wire mesh that comes with it and fit it up next to but not actually touching the heat element , you can just use those push pins (the plastic headed colored ones like you use to hang stuff on a corkboard) and push them into the styro , should take no more than 3 per side to hold it in place so you'll need about a dozen of them for the 4 sides. That wire mesh is useless for hatching balls anyway so this way the wire is actually of use and serves as a safety barrier, it will fit up there good so no babies would get behind or under it if you do it right. Also if they are in a tub with a lid they obviously are safe anyway. If your not using a lid be sure you aren't using the style with a turbofan on it as that will for sure dry out the eggs as it's to much air flow blowing directly around the eggs, if you have a "still air" model then your fine as long as it's plenty humid. I also used to plug the holes in the styro bottom with aquarium silicone so you can keep the humidity higher and use a bit more water in there, I used to put about 3/4" of water in the entire bottom , worked fine. Also do remember covering most of the holes on the top section (heater side) to get the humidity us some too. Remember they are designed for hatching bird eggs which don't need the high humidity like pythons eggs do , so keep that in mind! I use a walk in room now so this was along time ago , but I do remember the best way to run one of those.

The eggs cave in about 7-10 days prior to hatching , sometimes if they are real humid they don't collapse as much (no real problem just look different).

Good luck with em!

i did almost exactly that! i went to a hardware store and bought wire mesh and did that a couple of hours before i got this message! thanks for the help

It should have already come with a piece of mesh that normally would be used to sit the chicken eggs on, shouldn't have had to buy that.

missygoddess May 30, 2009 06:15 PM

thank you for your info. so a ? for you. some tof the eggs in the pic you showed me are white and the majority are a tanish color. why the difference? mine are mostly a tanish color now. does it mean anything? thanks

rosaleesmommy May 31, 2009 08:00 AM

the ones in my pic where that color when the females laid them.
but they are fine and will hatch and yes some eggs will change color befor they hatch and they will deflate so to speak. the only time to toss an egg is if it stinks. they don't need to be pretty to hatch.eggs are tuff mine where unpluged for 2 days i moved some new caging in to my snake room back in april forgot to plug them back in my eggs got cold 60 but everything hatch fine and all in normal with them also..

I certainly dont know this but I saw a discussion sometime back where they were talking about incubation temps and they were explaining that changing the temp and incubating cooler would possibly make more aggressive babies. I had a good friend of mine whos opinion I respect and he told me you could hatch eggs at 75. He said it would just take a lot longer so I guess the temps should be what most are incubated at but it really sounds like there is quite a tremendous range in there..

well I slowly got them back up to 88 to 90. They hatched day 55
Im sure you could incubate at 75, but the development of the embryo would be much slower. I wouldn't think it would affect temperament much.
The big thing with incubation is no sudden drastic changes in temps.
These are the eggs that got cold they hatched monday even the twins are fine they are 22 and 33 grams(A4).albino x spider breeding 0 spiders and 5 100% hets STRIKE...OUCHY

rosaleesmommy Jun 01, 2009 08:30 AM
