Gosh I think they are both great but if I had to pick one for myself it would be the first one(the top). Reason being that from the pics it looks like it has much more blushing on it and it also looks to me from what I can see that the yellow is much cleaner and less dark spot in the yellow on the sides and toward the top if you disregard the dark spots in the blushing. Nice...

The top one is a pastel YB -- the nicest I've seen. I have another pastel YB that doesn't compare. There may be another gene in there.
The bottom one is a yellowjacket. They just get better as they age. The contrast is sick in person.
That settles it. Pastel Yellow Bellies for everyone next year...lol.

Thanks. Me, too. I have a 1500g yellowjacket female that I'll breed the male to this winter to possibly find out if the blackbelly has a super form, unless Ian or someone else beats me to it.
I first saw them at Ians last year in January, and they truly are a must see in person animal. They are blindingly beautiful and bright in person. Hopefully we will see the super black belly this season, and see what this gene can really do.
Again, great looking animal!!

There is just something about the INK BLACK and brilliant yellow that I just love, not to mention the yellowjacket has more NEW combo potential the ybxpastel has been around. Lol dirty girl.
