Clutch of Nueces co. meahlmorrims

antelope May 30, 2009 11:31 PM

Got 9 big fat eggs today from a pair of Southwestern rat snakes Toby gave me. P.e.meahlmorrim. Weird thing is, I opened up to check and feed, she was shedding, I fed the male, little later I hear a ruckus, she's peeling and stealing his mouse, so I feed her as well. She had already laid the eggs and then shed. Hmmm.

Good looking eggs, Todd. I've actually had gravid snakes take a meal the same day they lay, but before dropping-they seem to know the eggs will be gone long before digestion will be interfered with....

Congrats, Todd! Nice clutch for a first time female. I'll be looking forward to seeing what the babies are like, since they will be F2's from my first F1's. Meahllmorum... gotta love 'em!

Congrats Todd. I don't have any doubt she's going to produce some large healthy babies.
