i recintly cought a garter snake in my yard and i cant get it to eat i have tried mice worms fish and it still wont eat what shud i do or what woud cause this

First we need to know a few things-where are you located, what species of garter are we dealing with here, and how do you have its cage set up? Different species from different regions may have widely divergent food preferences. And, while wc garters are usually not too difficult to get feeding, there are exceptions...

im not sure what type it is i can take a pic and put it up hear i live in southern illinois

sry i forgot to add that i got some plants and a couple houses for it to hide in and the flore of the cage is news papper a watter disch is bigenough for the snake to complety lay in and i got a height laigh on the type of the cage it's all in a glass reptile cage i think it's a 10 gallon

Try leaving a few guppies in the water bowl.

The snake will usually see them swimming, and many times will dive right in and go fishing!

thank you i have had it for about two weeks now and still cant get it to eat im going to keep trying for a little longer if it dont start to eat im going to relise it back to the wild
