i got my first tegu about 3 weeks ago. when i first got him he had a very small apatite but not any more!! just by holding him i can tell he has gained weight!! he is about 12 inches long. yesterday he ate almost a whole egg!! also are you tegus very picky eaters?? mine will east something one day but not be interested the next day. it is weird he will not touch crickets or meal worms/superworms. but he loves chicken,eggs, dog/cat food, and i have tried giving him some banana. but he loves egg so i mixed every thing together!! also can they eat dry dog/ cat food(soaked in water). ill post pics when i get a chance(work sucks!! lol)!

I knew he'd get an appetite by what you said before about your setup! One of mine is picky about what she'll eat from day to day. What I've done is to not give her the same things every day but it doesn't always work. If she doesn't eat one thing I'll always try something else. My suggestion is to give the crickets and worms a rest for a few days then try them again. Insects are important for a young tegu for their low fat high protein (I think). Try a live pinky mouse too. You should eventually try to get him on more healthy whole food items but for now eggs or whatever is awesome!
