Porlapses hemipenis

mrmarcbrown Jun 02, 2009 06:38 PM

I have a male with a prolapsed hemipenis, it seems like it is drying out from protruding. I noticed it when I placed a female with him to breed. There was sand all over it. I removed her before there was any copulation. I removed the male, placed him in a warm bath, took a qtip and cleaned the sand off. removed all the sand from his enclosure, and replaced it with papertowels. Is there any thing I can do to get it back inside where it belongs?

How did you make out with it? Is it still prolapsed?

Still dangling, it looks like it is starting to dry out a bit. My local vet, who has reptile experience, said to take a little vaseline or other lubricant and kind of push it back in. I had one other male with a prolapse and it went back inside on its own. I am going to wait another week and see what happens. The idea of trying to hold him, stuff it back inside and not get bit sounds like a bit more than 2 hands can handle. You have same issue or just curious?
