Amel Striped Ruthveni question...

jlassiter Jun 03, 2009 12:56 PM

I know of at least two people working with these Ruthveni Morphs (Shannon Brown & Ryan Hoyer)...

Is anyone else working with these?

Shannon and Ryan...what eggs have you gotten this year from this project?

Is Jutin Mitcham still working with these?

Would enjoy seeing some pics of some striped Ruthies...
Here is a possible double het pair I used to own...

I saw one on Don Soderbergs (South Mountain Reptiles) table at Daytona last year. Not sure if he is really working with them, or just happened to have one. It was a normal striped though, not amel.

Yeh...I wonder where he picked that one up from....I doubt Don Soderberg is "working with them". He's an old friend of mine...Haven't seen him a years...Great guy BTW!

I don't think the Amel Striped Ruthveni has been produced yet. The traits are real hard to pin down as I understood from past conversations. There were even some extreme striped individuals out there too...

I would enjoy seeing some pics of them as well as any information on breedings concerning this project....

Maybe I'll drop Shannon Brown an email later...

Hey John,
To my knowledge there hasn't been a double homo produced yet.I have some amels that should carry the striped gene and I have some striped and or aberrants that are het amel but only time will tell.It will be cool looking I am sure but it is so hard to pin down its not like a albino splotched sinilaon/nelsoni whatever.

Justin sold off the group he had to his causin Joe out here in Cali and I am not sure what he has going on this year.

Thanks for your input Shannon. So...How many Ruthveni clutches you got cooking for this project this year?
Do you have a male and female amel that 'carry' the striped gene?
I think that would be your best chances...IMHO

I just have a couple clutches cooking on this project. Its kinda been on the back burner cause the simple fact that its not a simple recessive trait. Its also NOT a co-dom trait so calling the very nice cleaned up ones a "super form" is also out of line. Its nothing more than a random but inheritable gene that shows its face when it darn well pleases just like the halloween pueblans I started back in the early (90's).

Anyway, to answer your question no.I don't have a pair of amels that are from the striped line but I have some 100% het amels that are.
I also have the old male that started all of this and he was collected as a adult in 1983.

And WOW!!!...a 26 year old male Ruthveni....That is awesome!
I had a California King die at the age of 18. I got him as a hatchling.....I think he would still be alive it wasn't for the A/C accident...
