Best way to sex yearling retics....

knottydread Jun 04, 2009 03:51 PM

Is it still possible to "pop" a yearling retic? I'm about to purchase a mate for my yearling supposive female...

Is there a better/easier way to do it? I took her to the vet awhile ago and all I can say is that I was very unimpressed with the knowledge the vet seemed to have.. She probed her and said she thought it was a girl cause it was pretty shallow...

Can you do the rub method described in the boa section?

Is there a way to visually determine as they grow older...

Also I'm looking for opinions on what to breed my lavender albino too...

I would recommend probing, it is the safest, and easist way. A yearling is too old (to developed) to pop, and even if you try, popping only confirms it as a male if it pops, if it doesn't pop, it doesn't confirm anything.

I saw someone pop one in Arlington Tx at a show there. He was checking out the male sunfire we purchased from him to make sure it was a male. He was somewhat undersized for a yearling though. At least that's what I think. We have two female tigers that are almost a year old that have far outsized him.
