Book(s) on Indigos

ekikel Jun 04, 2009 05:05 PM

Hi everyone,
I want to get a pair of eastern indigos sometime int he future and grow them up from hatchlings. I keep and breed a lot of kingsnakes, but have never worked with indigos. I think I am going to get into them though. So if there was any one book out there that somebody might know of that would help me out on them, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance'

I am not aware of any particular book that has extensive coverage of Drymarchon as captives. However, this and other forums specializing on the genus are a great source of info. Peruse the archives, and follow the "soap opera", you will soon learn who has good ideas. Your experience with Lampropeltis is helpful, good husbandry skills will keep you and your Drys happy. There are some differences however, higher metabolism, more frequent cleaning and probably feeding. Hatchlings not as fussy as some Lampropeltis, broader diet etc. Have fun, and check out the forums, some of these folks have extensive knowledge and experience, I learned from them. Welcome to the forum, you already made a good move. Vic H.
