plants for my veiled, help

jrbl Sep 14, 2003 02:33 AM

I have been looking for hibiscus to put in my veiled chameleons cage, but all I can find around my community is rose of sharon. Can I put this in his cage? Do you think the rose of sharon could survive in the constant heat/humidity? Also, this is not a plant for my chameleons, but more for his food. I have silk worms, but have yet found a source of mulberry leaves. The local nurseries only have the fruitless mulberry trees, and I have heard that silk worms only eat the leaves of fruiting mulberries. Is that true? Is it true that siilk worms can only eat mulberry leaves? If so, is there any specific reason why? One more thing... I saw a website with a list of "safe plants" for chameleons and african violets were on it. I have a plant, that is related to the african violet and I wanted to know if it was okay for my chameleon to eat the flowers. The plant looks very similar to the african violet except the leaves are much larger, the flowers are much larger, and the flowers are some what trumpet shaped. My chameleon really seems to enjoy eating flowers, so I thought he would enjoy eating these flowers. Thanks, jrbl

You can buy some 2' ones off ebay. I think it comes to $11 shipped. I asked one guy and he does not use pestides..he uses warm water and dawn soap to clear his.

Try it.
