Jungle boa genetics

creepycrawly200 Jun 05, 2009 10:30 PM

My columbian boa just produced her first litter. Out of 31 kids, over half have odd markings of some sort from lots of striping to puzzle-piece-shaped saddles and some partial ladder tails. Pastel mother only has one slight odd marking in her tail and pastel dream father is normal markings totally, but I don't know anything about their lineages. Are these babies "jungle" or just fancy pastels?

I would call them abberant pastels. You can't rightly call a boa a jungle unless you know it comes from the original swedish line.

Breed a male back to it's mother and see if you get supers. Then you'll know if you have jungle blood.

Thanks for the info. I'm waiting for their first sheds to see if they are regular pastel or pastel dream, and I will call them abberant pattern. They were just born 6-3, so I've got a little time to "label" them I guess. These guys act like they are ready to eat already, so I'm gonna offer them some rat pinks today just to see if they are gonna be early eaters. This is my first planned litter ever. I also have 6 ca boas born 5-6 that weren't planned. They are being stubborn about eating, though.
