Advice in Arizona?

rosycorn Jun 06, 2009 08:57 PM

Hello! I just moved to Phoenix for the next year and I was hoping to get some good photos of local snakes while here. Rosy boas and rattlesnakes would be really cool, if I could find 'em.

So, I was wondering what tips any local types might have. Any advice is welcome, from time of day to location (are any of the mountain parks within the city good, or is it better to put in more of a drive?). Thanks a lot!

There's so many places you can go out here! I live in Surprise. There's the White Tanks, South Mtn., Camleback Mtn., Superstitions, Mcdowells, Squaw Peak, so many.

What species of rattlesnakes are you looking for?
Are you interested in looking for lizards?

No particular species! I'm interested in any and all. Just wanna get some good in-the-wild pics while living out here. Lizards would be cool with me as well. And whatever else (birds and small mammals), but since this is the reptile forums.. :P

I live nearish to the 40th street entrance to the Phoenix Mountain Park but dunno if that particular place is noted for anything? Camelback, I've heard of but dunno where the others are. Cheers,
