im not much on names but NO thermostat is fullproof failures happen. IMHO never count on just one for several reasons, fire being the main one. i use 2 rotory thermos piggy backed then into a circuted power strip that gives me 3 points of failure. use a tempgun dial it in, piggybacking 2 or more thermos is fullproof. best of luck,,,,,,,,,,,thomas davis

Not trying to start anything Thomas..But I believe that "Three points for failure"..is two points too many..if your going to have a failure, at least you don't have to track it down..use of a GFCI would help also, just check it regularly.

hi richard, yeah ok... what i meant is piggybacking thermos in case one fails the other is there inline functioning and yes power to a GFI plug in case both thermos fail, thus 3 points for safety/failure.

Look into the Ranco's. I've had mine for many years and very reliable. About the same cost as the Johnsons, and I have heard nothing but good from other folks who use Rancos as well.
