Anyone familiar with genetics

KellyWood23 Jun 07, 2009 08:16 PM

I was just given 11 geckos with different genetics. Is there any way to find out what I would get if I bred some of them together?

Here is what I have:

Males:

1. mack snow 66% het bell
1. tremper hybino (sunglow)
1. SHT het sunglow and 50 % het raptor
1. hybino mack snow
1. bold stripe tang.

Females:

3. SHTCTB
1. SHT 100% het albino, 50% het raptor
1. Enigma 50% het bell
1. mack snow het bell

All of this is very confusing to me. Any help would be great.

Thank you!

I'm not an expert but here is what I would do.

1.Male mack snow 66%het Bell with the Female mack snow Het Bell. You would get Mack Snows for sure and if the male is het for Bell you will also get Bells,Bells het for Mack snows,Mack snows het for Bell.

2. Male Sunglow with SHTCTB you will get nice normals 100%het albino, and tangerins with different degrees of colors example some will be SHTCTB,SHTCT,SHT,all the babies will be het for albino. If you breed the best looking baby female and the best looking male baby you will get some normals 66%het for albino, tangerines 66%het for albino and some nice looking albinos posible sunglows

3.Male SHT het sunglow 50% het raptor with the Female SHT het albino 50%het raptor. you will get albinos, sht, possible shtct,if both are indeed het for raptor you will get raptors or aptors, if one is het and the other is not you have a 33%chance that some of the offspring will be het for raptor and the trick is to breed a few of the babies together and if they are het your would get a few aptor/raptor babies. The only way to be sure if both the male and female are indeed het for raptor is to get one and breed it to one that is possible. But first I would try them together and see what happens.

4.Male Hybino Mack Snow with the Female Enigma het bell. No idea what you would get but sounds like an interesting mix. you can always breed the babies and get enigmas, macks, macksnows, bells.

5. Male Bold StripsTang to Female SHTCTB. not sure what you would get but i think Tangs maybe some nicer bold stripe tangs.

hope this helps. like i said i'm no expert but thats what I would do. GL

Actually, that helped alot. Thank you! I did breed the 2 mack snows together yesterday, so that is good.

I was thinking about not breeding the Enigma though. I have heard some unsetteling stories about them and weather they are true or not, I just do not want to risk it.

You have given me some things to think about so thanks again. I will keep posted in the progress.
