gbculture86 Sep 14, 2003 09:09 AM

i've got a baby eastern painted turtle and a juvenile eastern tiger salamander, and i had them in the same cage last week. I am having this feeling that the turtle may try to eat the salamander? do you think so? could i keep them in the same cage or no? thanks a lot! -will

Turtles, if i recall, are animals of oppurtunity. If they feel hungry and see movement, consider your salamander shish-ka-bob.

I had a box turtle when i was a little kid, and put some blue bellied swifts into the cage. Came back to find half a lizard and a happy turtle.

Plus, Most salamanders and Newts are somewhat toxic... Pairing this two could spell death for both. It's a nice defence for amphibians, you eat one, and it won't happen again =
