How deep?....And what is your procedure to "wash" the sand.

Wash it through a screen? Just wet the junk out of it?

Thanks!!!!!!!

Mine is about 2 - 2 1/2" and I don't wash or screen it. The sand I get from Toys are us is very fine with no pebbles or dust. If the sand is not deep enough then you can't scoop under the liquid part of the feces.

Outside in a 5 gal pail and garden hose will work ,sifting it first will help ,then sun dry in a flat tub,Calcium carbonate might bind up like cement?

If you buy it from ToyRus you get rid of the problem of trying to gte out the small rocks. Thats kinda why you pay a little more. IF you go to home depot then you would want to try and get some of those rocks out and the water helps cut the dust.

Home depot does have washed and screened playsand too. I think I paid ~$3 for a bag. It is not very dusty and is of a consistently small grain size. My sand boas love the stuff. I am going to use this the next time I change the sand in my beardie tanks.
