scramble eggs

ecdysis Jun 09, 2009 11:11 PM

I recently had a friend loan a female beardie to breed to an adult male that I have. I have had her for three days. Today I get home and find a giant pile of scrambled egg looking poop in the cage. I checked his and her vent and it obviously came from her. Has anyone encountered this before? It had no odor at all. She is super fat and healthy and so is my male. I have had him for two years and never saw anything like it from him or any of my other beardies. Any info would help.....

There were no egg shells right?

A Picture would be better... it could be sperm plugs, urates, something she ate... typically if they pass eggs, you will see either deflated eggs that look obviously like eggs. Even if the egg was lain in perfect condition and she ran over it and broke it, it still looks like a broken egg.

Scrambled eggs sounds more like you are describing a whitish/yellowish blob...or pool on the cage floor...which can be runny poop (diarrhea), a soft mass of urates stained by fecal matter or bile.

If its bile or diahrea do you think it could be from a parasite or bacteria? Like I said shes fat and healthy and I know she came from a bigger breeder.

Thanks.....

Diarrhea, especially consistent diarrhea is often caused by parasites or other gastronomic diseases. However, a change in diet can cause it too. In which case, after a few days, she should have normal poo on the new diet, unless you are feeding very high water greens such as iceberg lettuce or romaine. Too much squash and carrots can cause runny stool as well.

Its very hard to know what is going on, as your description isn't too detailed. A picture would be good but I assume by now, you have cleaned up the mess, so that won't be possible. Has she pooped again since? Is she eating etc normally? What about a picture of her?
