FEMALE BUMBLEBEE BRED TO A SUPER PASTEL. PRETTY GOOD ODDS. LOOKS LIKE 1 PASTEL, 1 SUPER PASTEL, 3 BEES, AND 2 KILLERBEES! ONLY BAD NEWS IS ONE OF THE BUMBLEBEES DIDNT MAKE IT. HERE ARE SOME PICTURES OF THE CLUTCH.

What day # did you cut these at?

sean0411 Jun 10, 2009 12:09 PM

Day 55

SPJ01 Jun 10, 2009 04:20 PM

I cut this one at day 52 and there is nowhere near the amount of blood of potentially damaged veins like in your photos.
Did you use a pair of kids scissors on those eggs?
I hope they make it.

sean0411 Jun 10, 2009 05:20 PM

I can see how you all might think that this bad but if you would actually look a little closer instead of getting ahead of yourselves you will notice this so called blood is not loose or out of the veins. All the veins on all my eggs are intact. I had not one vein cut by my scissors which are cuticle scissors by the way. I think my eggs were just extremely vascular. To be honest the picture of the super pastel that looks like a so called hack job is the first hatchling out of the egg and is doing tremendous. The bumble bee that didnt make it was not from my "hack job" but it was deformed with kinking. Thanks for the comments otherwise.

And thats How You cut open a Egg!!!!, theres way to much amniotic fluid aound those other Eggs, almost pure butchery.. Super shakey hands or poking around the Babys ,to see what they were...I don't want to be to hursh..But You would make a Good meat cutter..lol.... I cut my Eggs Open too but ive been doing it so long.. And I think I remmeber doing something close to that back with some burm Eggs..Thats some Heavy Cutting.

But live and learn..was the other dead ball deformed?

this virtual puddle you speak of is maybe 1 drop of blood that looks spread out and the streams of blood i dont know what you are looking at they are veins that are intact. all the babies are healthy.

nick, thanks for your comment, and i would never not post for fear of comments like mykee or others have posted. everyone is entitled to their opinion and thats the risk you inherently run when posting on a public forum. i'm not angry in any way as i too can respond and give my opinion.

Hey congrats man thats a heck of a clutch. Let everyone know how many survive and post some pics. Sounds to me like everyone is jealous of you hatchlings. Either way they are your eggs and you can cut them whenever you please in my book. I have heard of breeders cutting them before day 55 even. Good job man

xXVanXx Jun 12, 2009 02:23 AM

No I see You posted the dead Ball was deformed. I cut to , I just like candleing them and drawing around the veins, before I cut. And I don't go deep at all.. Ive cut windows in Eggs and watched them grow from 28 days out.. I wouldn advise no one to do it, unless You can cut with out hitting any veins at all.. You know when You cut between the shell and the whole sac inside, so no Fluids come out.. It is Cool to see them develope.

Nice Clutch of Babys You have There, thats for sure.

Sean, Way to go with such a great clutch. You should be very proud of your achievement and on top of that your egg cutting is just fine. To those who criticized you by implying the manner in which you cut the eggs was harmful are DRAMARAMA QUEENS who need to abide by the golden rule of if you have nothing nice to say, keep quiet. Take care plus I hope you keep cutting clutches your way and remember to turn a deaf ear to the nay sayers. Andrew
