some new additions

brick1 Jun 10, 2009 11:35 AM

ok didnt really plan to get these, but are a proven pair, the female only gave birth like 2 weeks ago. the guy selling had to move house and didnt have enough room for 2. Cost me a tiny bit of cash, a yearling bci and a bunch of rats
They both need a bit of fattening up, and i didnt really need the male, but he is a really stunning red, and the female will come in handy, later this season, or at least the year after.
the male

the female

Bob my original male, a bit fat after some extra rats. Yes he is my garbage disposal snake

and Psycho, already sold just waiting delivery
still doesnt like me

Just from the pics, I think I'd sell Bob and keep the new male!

brick1 Jun 10, 2009 11:55 AM

Im kinda getting worried when i start to have holdbacks, im not sure if i will be able to sell anything!!!

I'm guessing only a year or two before the "collection expansion" forces a move to larger apartment or ????

May be ahead of you but only a matter of time before you start catching up. I have to trim down my holdback strategies. Can only take care of so many animals.

I hear ya! I still have my first Ball Python, a 19 yr. old female!

Jeff Clark Jun 10, 2009 01:59 PM

Dave,
...Congrats! Nice looking new ones. I too would keep that male. Don't keep Bob too fat. My breeder males that are most active with the females are all a little on the thin side. It is hard for us to be trying so hard to feed the females up to be big and hefty while at the same time trying to keep the males thin. Rather than using any snake as a garbage can which I used to do alot I kill and freeze the extra rats.

If you don't need the red male, I might be able to make room for him..

Nice pickup for sure!

Thanks,
Ed
