Is it normal for a corn to soak in its water dish? Mine just started doing it today and I'm not sure if something's wrong or not. Thanks in advance.

they soak if..........
too hot
too cold
going to shed
bored
mites
dry
hiding

give it a hide and proper cage and make sure it doesn't have mites and all should be fine....they soak....you want from 78 to 85 degrees.....82 if you pick one temp.....

good luck......

The advice above is correct. However, I also suggest you use a white water dish. If it is mites, you will see black "specs" in the water dish. The white helps them to show up easier.

Let us know the results, if it is mites, we can give you advice on how to treat for them.

it looks like it could be mites. if it is, how would i go about getting rid of them?

They soak sometimes for various reasons as mentioned above. I'd also like to add that it is a good idea to provide a water bowl large enough for the snake to soak in if it desires.

I like to use these dog water bowls that you can get for about a buck at WalMart. Besides being large enough for a decent sized corn to soak in, they can also get underneath it via the cut out hand grips and use it as a hide box.
