Finally some gopher eggs to post!

antelope Jun 10, 2009 07:36 PM

My Brewster county Sonoran laid 5 HUGE eggs today, what a shock after doing kings, N.A. milks and rats all these years! I saw th in hand pics of eggs the other day and thought That's so cool, but to actually have them in hand is mind blowing! I have been waiting for this girl for a long time, she is a nice normal with cool bullseyes and a greenish head. My first locality pits! Ain't she cool? LOL! I am going to have to start the rat factory now!

They are doing really well. They are easily as big as that one of Todd's that just laid eggs, so they can go next year easily. I didn't try them this year. That one really nice one still has a really poor attitude hahaha

She looks a little transparent, he he

And when your clutch hatches, the babies will be big, they will not musk on you, they won't squirm out of your hands and they will feed with gusto. Gotta love these animals.

NIce Todd. Love this time of year. Pit eggs are awesome. I got 6 beautiful eggs from a Northern Pine years ago that wasn't even that big and the eggs were HUGE.

antelope Jun 11, 2009 07:10 PM

She's only 4' maybe 4 1/2', I am getting schooled quickly on the differences this year!

Todd

Congrats! I have a female that Alicia and I collected just east of Marathon in early '07. She was gravid when we caught her, and delivered 9 eggs in June (I kept back a female from that clutch). This year i mated my male Stillwater hypo to her-I'm interested to see what effect that gene has on sonoran gopher coloration. She dropped 10 eggs which should be hatching in a couple weeks.

Definitely post pics when yours hatch!
