Paradox Lipstick Sunglow Litter

boaswithballs1 Jun 11, 2009 08:50 AM

Wasn't there for the birth, but my partner called and said we have our first sunglow litter (were expecting three). I got there yesterday and discovered that we had a paradox litter. WOW!! 3 paradox, 1 Paradox DH Lipstick Sunglow, 1 Paradox Albino, 1 Paradox Het. Albino.

but he didnt start the lipstick line. It was only his females bred to unrelated males that produced the original Lipsticks. To the best of my knowledge, Paradox only recently showed up in the Lipsticks. Like as in this year. Anyway, I personally believe that these may be reproducable within the line. Take care. Very nice. That is always a nice surprise.
My question is, What causes an entire litter to become paradox. Was the parent a paradox. Does a paradox adult have a higher chance on producing paradox babies. I recently had a litter and got one paradox. Here is a pic of the hypo paradox I got. Please post more pics of your paradox.

I believe in your case its a Hypo Boa ,therefore it could be
termed Calico but not Paradox.
A Paradox Boa is always a form of the Albino Boa
I'm Pretty certain about this one ,LOL

A "paradox" is a statement or group of statements that leads to a contradiction or a situation which defies intuition; or, it can be an apparent contradiction that actually expresses a non-dual truth, i.e can it be an albino with black pigment bleeding through? or can it be a DH Sunglow with albinism bleeding through?
YES it can, and hence forth the "Paradox" title.

All of these snakes contain the genes for colors both seen and unseen, just because an animal is a visual albino or hypo does not mean that it doesn't contain the genes for normal color and the paradox phenomena is most likely a coding sequence gone awry.

An allele is one member of a pair or series of different forms of a gene.Usually alleles are coding sequences, but sometimes the term is used to refer to a non-coding sequence. An example is the gene for blossom color in many species of flower—a single gene controls the color of the petals, but there may be several different versions (or alleles) of the gene. One version might result in red petals, while another might result in white petals. The resulting color of an individual flower will depend on which two alleles it possesses for the gene and how the two interact. Hence red and white petals at the same time.

The Paradox DH Sunglow in this case is not a calico, as calico is most likely a recessive trait requiring both parents to posses the gene and I would have gotten more than one out of the litter.

Thanks for all of the comments, I will update pics as they grow.
