One of our new bouncing toads has an ulcer-like lesion on it's throat, just below the jaw. The lesion is about three millimeters across, has a dark ring around it and is reddish in the center.
Additionally, the pupil of the eye on the opposite side of the ulcer seems to remain contracted, while the other dilates and contracts normally.
He seems interested in food, but hasn't eaten for several days (about three). We've been trying to get both of our toads to eat crickets, both in their normal inclosure and a seperate feeding container, but they havn't been eating since Thursday (little more than three days ago). We've had them for about nine days. The first few times, we fed them on waxworms and crickets and they ate fine, but they've just recently stopped.
They live in a ten gallon tank with plenty of hiding places, fresh water, moss, shredded coconut substrate and a 60-watt bulb overhead. We mist them a couple times a day.
Any ideas for what could be wrong and how to treat it? Would Neosporin work well on the skin lesion? What about the lack of feeding.
Thanks.
