Dead mouse in the water bowl!!?!?!

rdm01 Jun 12, 2009 09:39 AM

Hi all

I was feeding my python last night and left her with 2 medium mice (frozen/thawed) in the enclosure over night. I woke up this morning to find that one of the prey was in the water bowl!
First time I've left 2 prey items inthe enclosure.

Did this mouse resurect to life... and decide to take a swim - only to realize it can't?!

Or did my snake decide to drown an already dead mouse?
I'm going to take the logical route and think that the snake did this

Why would a snake do this? And how? Did she pick it up with her mouth in an attempt to eat and instead decided to take it to the beach?

Anyone have any insight into this?

Do know if the mouse had been bitten or scratched by someone with the T-virus?

Most likely it tried eating and found something not to its liking. Anything interesting about this mouse that would make the snake have second thoughts?

Well the mouse does have the T-Virus...snake probably hates that to no end.

Only thing I can think of is that its the first time I placed more than 1 prey item in the enclosure.

Also I got the mice from a new store but they look the same as the all the others.

Probably what happened is that the snake picked up the mouse to eat it and accidentally dropped it into the water bowl. Once the mouse was in the bowl in cold water the snake could not find it to finish eating it.
