You caught me lol! Now everybody knows I love these beautiful
creations! I cant get enough, and I admit.... I AM A BOA ADDICT!
I think I need help lol!
***No offense taken Joel***

On a serious note... IMG

IMG means 'Increased Melanism Gene' aka 'Hypermelanistic', his is Anrythristic also though. Just crazy!

Pete call proved out his female a while ago, and I know there
are babies somewhere. They kind of look like this, that is why I
hope mine proves genetic (mine is not IMG, rescue that kept
getting blacker and blacker)

In the last 2 years she went from a grey color in the tail, to
riding black up her most the way. They crazy thing is Her saddles
turned black first after the tail went black. Then it started
creeping up her back. (confusing I know). I feel that my female
will soon be black. I got her as a rescue and she was SCARRED
UP! The other crazy thing is now ALL her scars are Black. Scars
are usually white, which makes me believe there is something
going on here. Only time and breedings will tell though

Has anybody ever had one of their Boas do this to them?

I was thinking opposites. Petes last name is not call its Kahl.
I am a DA( I know yo know what that means), was on the phone
typing. I even spelled Anerythristic wrong. Sorry for the poor
representation.

extreme stress and heat will cause that blacking your nic is showing in that pic. I've seen it on 4-5 boas over the years. had a thermostat go bad once and heated a wall of visions to 126 and cooked everybody. the normals all blacked out like that and a couple shed off there scales down to their skin and totally scared up, all their scares where black like that.

symetryexotics Jun 12, 2009 11:38 AM

She has been on her own except for the last couple months, she
was grey then turned black. I know we talked about this a while
ago. Her heats never exceed 93 degrees, and no lower than 80.
Can that stress her out? I am almost 100% sure she is Longi x CA
cross.

one time heat cause the color change. getting overheat to extreme temps can cause them to immediately going into a shed cycle. mine that change the most had just shed and where in full blue within 48 hours of getting overheated. i've seen a number of import BCC showing the color shift that probable go to hot during transport. I don't see any longi blood there Kenny. the head spear and color are strait CA not the head of a longi, and the tail stripe is not uncommon on CA's one of your other CA's has the same tail and head.

symetryexotics Jun 12, 2009 12:04 PM

We have argued this time and time again, but I have never had a
heat malfunction. Longi crossed, Ca crossed, Columbian crossed,
they all look different. There is no CA I have seen to date
or Columbian crossed with CA that looks like this. Bccx CA dont
even look like this. BCO xHogg dont look like this. I guess we
both are confused about this matter, I cant budge because I have
not had any of these problems, I guess only time will tell
Micah. On a side note Your Hypermels are pretty nice

long before you got her. the darken will keep happening long after the overheating.

symetryexotics Jun 12, 2009 12:17 PM

Thanks Micah I hope you are well. I will keep you specifically
updated on her. I will be putting a ghost poss het Albino on her
shortly, so with any luck I should have news by late this year

I gotta say when I looked at this Boa of Kenny's I'm certainly no Longicauda aficionado at all.
Although the first thought that crossed my mind when looking at that Boa was that head looks Longi ,
that tail Looks CA how in the world could this cross occur?
That's what I thought right or wrong

I got this from a lady who owned a company named 'Moonstruck
Exotics'. I dont know any more than thatother than the fact that
she is not a good keeper. Maybe she got this Boa and just labled
it as a Longi? That is how I bought her as a Longicauda, and I
knew nothing about Longi's so I believed her. Then I talked to
Jeff Ronne because she said this 'Longicauda' was imported from
him. He knew nothing of the sort, and I easilly believe him over
her so now I am at this stage lol! That is hy I labeled her as a
mystery female.

Since you are not 100% on what she is I have heard that name moonstruch exotics some where before....but can't place it.

Have you ever done scale counts off of her sheds, this may point you give you some ideas, but unfortunately so many boas will fall into the same counts.

For the lesson on what IMG stands for, A question for you though why change it from melanistic or hyper mel? You crazy morph guys its not enough to keep canging the boas but do you have to keep messing with the terminology too LOL...

Your animal looks like there may be some Longicauda blood in there...just a guess as I have not seen it in person, I have several Peruvian boas that are doing similar things as far as coloration changes.

That does seem a little strange that the scars are black as well, so I guess you will just have to breed that animal and start a project to determine what is going on there...best of luck

symetryexotics Jun 12, 2009 11:45 AM

Honestly, not too sure what the difference is. I have heard both
terms and they sound the same to me. Sounds like I need to find a
answer. Im pretty sure it is a Longi x CA cross. Im putting my
Ghost 66% het Albino in with her soon, a little late on the
breeding trials though, but we will see! A few people have told
me that there is Longi in there for sure, and with the Sunburst
spot on her head also makes me hink the cross is CA.

I would hve to see that in person to form an opinion...could be lots of different blood in there either way interesting boa hope it throws some killer genes

Well, if you mean the Increased Melanin Gene boa....you'll have to talk to Peter Kahl. Pete did breedings in 06 and 07 but I don't know if he sold any babies to the general public.

According to his website there were supposed to be some available in 08 and/or 09.

Amie

I figured that as much. Thanks for the reply! Hope you are well
