Ethics of mixing locales

Raveness_d Jun 12, 2009 02:28 PM

I'm just wondering what the popular opinion on mixing locales is in the community.

Nothing crazy, but how about a CA x Columbian to reduce size and add colour, for example?

There has been a lot of controversy on this topic, the best answer I can give when it comes to mixing any of the sub-species is if you sell any of them please be honest and up front as to what they are, and use your judgement as to who you are selling to

I personally sit on the fence as far as mixing goes, I enjoy seeing all the morphs and interesting creations being made, but I do not mix any of the sub-species myself, and defend peoples right to do it if they wish.

Fun stuff

I really feel much the same way. I've always desired to keep my locales pure.

However, I have been recently considering a CA x (assumed) Columbian breeding. The female is really a mystery locale, since I know nothing of her history, but she's a big girl and looks very Columbian.
She's got beautiful colour, lots of reds.
I'm very much on the fence about this, and wanted some outside opinions.

The original plan was to pair her with a hypo Columbian, but my "male" probed female, and I have the opportunity to add an outstanding CA male to the collection. I really wouldn't mind offspring with a more CA size, and the colour potential is pretty exciting.

Honesty is foremost, of course. I don't understand why people would be dishonest about their breeding practices.

Sadly the answer to that is money

I am not really a morph guy but I love to see the beautiful boas produced by mixing and I think there are several morphs that are Columbian X CA one of them being the hypo.

All fun stuff
