I was wondering about the small insects that occasionally show up on eggs in a incubator. I know that some eat the bad eggs to stop them from effecting the good ones, but I was wondering if the insects can hurt the good eggs.

From my personal experience.
I never had any problems with bugs bothering good eggs. I live in more or less a sub tropical climate so everything lives and grows fast here. A bazillion bugs at any given time.
I make incubators out of old soda display cases and freezers. Those things always have gaps for little crawly's so..........The fruit fly's get in then come the maggots sometimes fire ants come and eat them, wood roach's, palmetto bugs , spiders , Some egg containers have whole eco systems going on in them but I never had anything bother the fertile eggs. This includes lizards , snakes , tortoises the whole spectrum of reptile eggs. So for me it`s never been an issue.
