Mosaics

What is the basis that alot of reputable people believe that the Mosaic Fl. King is a Fl . King i own a pair and i dont "SEE it"as it appears to have many more caractoristics of the Eastern and Goini including the black belly only seen on the others, and since my secretary has the day off and i hate to type im keepin it short. Tom Agosta told me he's not sure if they're brooksi. He said "the pattern is all over the place". I heard the mosaic crossed with a lavender was spectacular though.

They originated from Lake Okeechobee kings, which have never been considered brooksi. I've only ever seen these advertised as Florida kings.

Bluerosy Jun 13, 2009 12:44 PM

because you were replying lytlsnake post corecting him on the proper usage of brooksi. But the OP and thread has to do with if the Mosaics are crosses with Aplachicolas or eatwern kings.

BTW they are all Florida kings now. But you knew that.

Yeah, Tom said that he wasn't sure they were brooksi, but he didn't say that they weren't floridana.

I wasn't really correcting the use of brooksi. Just saying that based on their known origin they are definitely not brooksi.

Chris,

I assume you mean the Mosaic Florida kings, right?

The mosaic is an actual reccessive trait. The pattern skips a gen just like albinism. Has nothing to do with easterns or goini as then the mosaic pattern would just be a simple trait passed on from gen to gen with pattern abnormalities.

I agree I was very skeptical about the Mosaic when it first appeared. i didn't take any second hand word for what they were. The problem since these first showed up was when a broker in Calif got an exclusive contract from the breeder to broker them. I talked to the broker and they would not give me the breeders name. I had to first buy sevral animals and then they gave me the original breeders name. I have talked to the person who did all the breedings with this trait. It turns out they are reccessive.

ince then Lindsey Pike had a different line come out. I think he has been working with them for 3 years. I hope he chimes in with his experience breeding Mosaics.

Lindsay's founder animals were actually posted on this forum as hatchlings by another poster a few years ago. They were hatched from a wild gravid female from the canefields.

Interesting story Rainer. You had told me some of that before, but I didn't know that the "broker" made you buy some from them first. I live nearby (in California) and buy crickets and stuff from those guys, but their snakes tend to be a little pricey for me.

I was gonna get some of these Mosaics from the original breeder last year, but I kinda ran out of money at that time. I'd love to get some of your double het Peabino x Mosaic. Did you cross anything else with Mosaic this year?
