adult male everglades

I was pleasantly suprised to find a 4 year old pair of these available this weekend at Hamburg. The female may be prettier, but is in shed at the moment.

I was at Hamburg too, and saw both of them just sitting there, freakin beautiful. If I had the room I would have definitely scooped up both of them. Did you see the hypo everglades all the way in the back? It was incredible. First time I ever saw them in person. Amazing. Good luck with them and make sure you post pictures.

Thanks, I'm suprised they were available. I didn't get their 'till 10:30 or so. I saw them right away and resisted for a good two hours hoping some one else would buy them (I have no room either). But their they still were, with the male doing his best to copulate right then and there. I saw that male hypo as well. I've got a yearling hypo I think is a little nicer, I'll post an updated pic soon.

Very nice! Love my glades male but has become a PITA feeder and probably won't get that big. Always nice to see pics of quality animals. Thanks for posting.

Greetings,
The dorsal color of your snake is quite nice. I am wondering what color the chin and throat are? I've been trying to find/recreate the old timey-rossalleni--the ones described in Neill's paper and that I used to find in the vicinity of Lake Okeechobee in the 1950s, 60s, & 70s--before and during the draining of the Everglades--and they are terribly hard to come by now.
Thanx/Dick

His chin is mostly white with some yellow influence on the periphery and as you go towards the neck. His neck underbelly starts off yellow, but the caudal half to two thids of the belly is solid orange. The female appears to have less dark pigment on the dorsal surface with a similar looking ventral surface, but she's in shed so it's hard to say.

Really nice find! He's beautiful or,should I say handsome!! Jeff

Absolutely beautiful! I used to catch "Everglades rats" as a kid in South Florida in the 80's. I put it in quotes because I think they were not pure, but rather were intergrades with quadrivittata. We did find one nice, large male that had all of the characteristics of a pure rossalleni. He was a mean sucker too! But most seemed intermediate between the two.

Thanks, I've been wanting everglades for some time. The female may be gravid as well. And they're both pretty laid back.

Nice score! They look like the real deal too.
I thought about going to that show but the last one I went to there was so crowded it was pathetic.
How was it this time?

I know what you mean about the last couple shows. This show wasn't crowded at all. Easy parking, no lines, and you could actually go comfortably from table to table w/o people in your face at every turn. I thought there was a nice assortment of animals displayed as well. Some pretty nice human females were on display as well.

SPECTACULAR Snake. One of my faves in Elaphe type ratsnakes & one that eluded me in Florida in the field.

I was at Ted's table. The snakes are hypos from Howie Sherman and the female is gravid (probably in her pre-lay shed even).

Good find.
