It's been a good week. I've found:
20 Garters
2 Brown snakes
2 Eastern Milks
and a fox snake not pictured
good stuff, love to see the fox snake!

Some day when I can brave the cold, I hope to come up north and experience some northern herps, lol, it's 90 degrees now that it's cooled off a bit!

The Chicago area is great really for herps. I'm close to so many different habitats that support a ton of different species. It's great.

I am insanely jealous you spotted the milk snakes! I live about two hours south of you in Champaign; all I ever see are:
Garter snakes
Northern water snakes
Brown snakes
And the occasional fox snake (here is a recent picture: http://www.greatsleague.com/images/other/foxsnake.jpg
She was an even three feet and one of the most stout beauties I've ever seen!
Nice field work! I love garters and how they act so tough.
