New Combo? Any Calico experts out there?

FernandezReptiles Jun 14, 2009 06:21 PM

Bred my Calico male to a CH Granite female.
7 eggs-3 Calicos-4 sibs/possible Granites.

I can't tell if I hit the combo but 2 of the Calicos
have head markings that are very similiar to their
Granite mother. Has anyone seen a Calico with these
head markings?

Thanks for looking.

The combo has been done before but I havent seen it yet. Supposedly Brandon Boeke did it. Do you have pics of mom? They look cool David. Congrats.

Ah my mistake. I hadn't seen or heard anything about
a Granite Calico. I'd love to see his if he did produce
any. Here's mom. Thanks!

She looks great. As Im sure you know im a huge Granite fan. I hope you didnt hit it just from the standpoint that I would hope the combo would be much more extreme than that. I do see some of the same head markings as mom. Did you get a male? If you did hit it congrats. They are really nice looking Calicos.

Me too! I love Granites (especially the genetic kind).
I had similiar thoughts ..I was hoping the combo would
be something more extreme. We'll see what they look like
after a few meals and a few sheds. Thanks for the kind words.

David, that is wicked looking whatever it is! It would be interesting to see what it produces when bred.

I'm a year or two behind in trying out that combo, but I'm a big fan of anything calico. Congrats!

Thank you Maki. I'm a big fan of Calicos too.
I bred my male to a few other female morphs
so with any luck I'll hit on another combo or
two. Best of luck this season!

I haven't seen tons of calico babies, but I think the sides of your babies look alot different than what I remember it. Killer looking snakes either way!!! Congrats!

Beautiful Calicos! Judging by those orange ringer marks and low white look. I would say thats a Flora & Fauna line. Am I right?
