I'm looking to purchase a CB Shingleback Skink. Does anyone know of anybody that sells and/or breeds these skinks? If so, please respond to this message. Thanks.

Adam,
Be prepared to put your wallet on a crash diet. Your looking at mucho denaro. You can find them, but your looking in the thousands for 1. Still interested? I don't know any breeders offhand, but if I come up with anything-I'll let you know.
Best regards,
Jean P.

Hello,
Shinglebacks are WAY out of our budget, But I wanted to thank you for posting the beautiful pic of female with young. Unlike their Blue-Tongue relatives, I have heard many positive things of the parental care of this species.
Sincerely,
Brian

You're right!
They are closer to mammals than any other reptile: paired for life (most of them), guarding their own babies in the terrarium for up to 4 month and the male is very docile to even the smallest offspring as well.
I'm keeping and breeding them for about 20 years now and still not tired.

The markings and color on the recent picture reminds me of a Corucia yet the head and size of the digits reminds one of the Shinglebacks affinity to the Tiliqua.
Thanks for this pic also.

Some Questions if I may...
How is the Shingleback Circulus organized? How long do the young remain with the parents? Is there a Alpha -Beta structure? How long is the Ferox Patrona Phase of the female? (Intense Hormonal flare-up of more heightened aggression and protectiveness of young evident with Corucia. Corucia are responsive to the young for years but in the first few weeks, Their is the heightened Hormonal aggression.) How long have you been breeding these guys? (My complements on your success). etc.
Sincerely,
Brian

Hi Brian,
my English is not that good, so sorry if I do not understand everything what you want to know.
What do you mean with CIRCULUS? Hibernation?
I keep the babies together with their parents till the next breeding season, when the male is getting nervous.
ALPHA-BETA STRUCTURE. If you want to know if you can keep male together it depends on the subspecies and perhaps the individuals.
FEROX PATRONA PHASE. The female is aggressive for about 3 to 4 month - if the baby is present. After removing the offspring she is tame in around one hour. Immediately after putting the baby back to her she’s aggressive again, sometimes after a separation of 6 weeks. See articles of C. M. Bull for more info.
I mentioned what you find in Corucia years ago when I bred this species. High aggression when the baby was present.
I’m keeping and breeding Trachydosaurus for about 20 years now.
Regards
