Has anyone tried...

nechushtan Sep 14, 2003 02:55 PM

I'm curious if anyone has tried keeping their pet snake in a bag around their neck. I have a baby bull snake who is handled regularly to the point of occasionally hanging out by the door of her cage to get attention. I have a friend who keeps his Sugar Gliders (rodents of some sort) in a bag around his neck so he can bond even more with them and I was thinking that until my baby gets bigger it may be an idea to try the same thing... Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Ron

Not sure why you would want to but you definitely could. The whole sugar glider thing is because you have to "bond" with them and let them get your scent and sight down. I have put some snakes in my shirt pocket before if I was holding them and the phone rang or something of the sort. So I guess that would work as well. Andy

While it's not necessary as it is with sugar gliders, it can be done. My girlfriend used to have a wicker purse that she carried her ball python in all the time. Just be sure to keep a heat pad handy in case thngs suddenly get too cold. She used one of those reusable heat pads that have the little disk in them that you bend to activate it. They get pretty hot, so you shoulb wrap it in a sock or something. You'll also want ot make sure it's well padded and securely closed.
