Detailed Anatomy site or book

annastesia Sep 14, 2003 03:06 PM

I am looking for detailed anatomy information on beardeds. I have found very general info on the web so far. Is there any recommendations you have?

I am interested in the purpose of the bulbous type growths by their jaws as well as the purpose for the "double layer" type spikes on the back of their heads. I was wondering what the purpose was for in their history of function currently.

Thanks in advance

Been looking for just such a thing myself.

I've been through many web pages so far, and as you've said, info is general and scarce.

There are books listed here that may be useful, but so far I haven't had a chance to look into them further:

Please post any info you find, and I'll do the same.

Could you please post the names of the medical books. I wouldn't mind looking into them. The more knowledge the better
Thanks so much!

Biomedical and surgical aspects of captive reptile husbandry by fredric L. Frye DVM MS 2 volume set second edition published by krieger publishing ISBN 0-89464-310-x

Reptile Medicine and surgery by Douglas Mader published by WB Saunders Co isbn 0-7216-5208-5

(not one of my favorites) herpetology introductory biology of amphibians and reptiles (a lot of amphibian stuff in this one) by George Zug Laurie Vitt and Janalee Caldwell published by academic press isbn 0-12-782622-x

and for snake people a must have - the reproductive husbandry of boas and pythons by richard ross MD MPH and gerald marzec published by the institute for herpetological research standford, ca. isbn 0-9631470-3-x

start there and let me know when you finish that stack.
