HIT THE ODDS!! 50 PERCENTERS PROVE!

gapnda7 Jun 17, 2009 09:06 AM

I purchased a pair of gorgeous salmontine 50% het sharp albinos from Mario Colvin here locally a couple years back as a little dinking around project. The pair was growing nicely but I wasn't planning on breeding them until this coming 2010 season.

Around December I was going through a cleaning session and threw the male in the female's cage and forgot to put the male back in his cage until the next day. When I opended the cage they were locked up so I left them alone. I decided to leave him in there and they ended up breeding for the next few months on and off. Mind you this salmontine girl is at most 4 1/2 feet long at this point. The salmontine mother to these two is HUGE! I thought NO WAY will this go but the animals will do what they do...

To my surprise she ended up ovulating and producing a healthy (no slugs or pills) litter of gorgeous babies....I am floored she produced at such a small size! I'll post pics once they shed but ended up with a few Sharp albinos (thus proving both salmontine parents are 100% het for Sharp albino!), a few probable super salmontines 66% het Sharp, and some regular salmontine 66% hets....

I'm done for the season with two liters - het x het blood and now this. I have a small collection so I am super happy with these results. Can't wait til next year! Good luck to all with the rest of your season!

Pics to come...woohoo!

I am glad to hear you are getting into boas- especially Sharps. It will be interesting to see if the Salmontine babies maintained their Argentine look, as they should be 50% Argentine like their parents.

Take a quick trip to Vegas.

Congrats!
