Heres the deal, I bought a bearded dragon for 100 hundred dollars being told it would get red around 7-8 months old. It is now 7 1/2 months old and 15 inches, and no signs of red, a liitle lighter than it was in the past but no red. I called up and asked the guy why it wasn't red yet and he said take it out in the sun more and feed it carrots ( she will not eat them though), Also I'm pretty sure she's a female. The guy said males get more red then females but she'll eventually change. I see many reds in his shop so I see no reason in liying but usually there red as babies I thought. Do you think she's plain or will change. Also when giving them a bath or atleast let them swim should the water be cold or warm. Thanks for replys.

You may very well have a dragon of red bloodline, but there is never any way to tell in advance if a dragon will have color. I kept two of my babies and they were both a pretty orange when they were small. Now, one is still orange and the other looks like a normal gray/brown beardie.
I also have a red bloodline dragon, he's a light tan and a year and a half old, so he's not going to be red. If you should ever breed that dragon, the red may show up in the babies though.

I haven't bred any dragons but here's what I'm told... If you breed a super nice male red with a super nice female red and get say 30 babies for example. You most likely will get 5 to 10 super nice babies, 5 to 10 real nice babies, and the rest will be ok to normal looking dragons. Anything more than that and your lucky.

Like Christy said you just never can tell how each of those babies will grow up. Some increase in color while some could loose color with age. I wouldn't think that your's will make a drastic color change but it will carry the parent's genes.

Now, If you paid for a high color dragon, I think you should get one. I have always thought that you should get what you pay for.
