I place them on aspen after they have shed and offer first meal 5 days later to give them a chance to get comfortable in their tub. first meal for me is always a small rat fuzzy unless it's a runty snake and then it's a rat pink, no mice allowed in my collection, lol.

this is what i do for babies snakes, i put them all on paper towels and mist the cage and towels down, make sure the heat is up and humidity, after they all shed, wait alittle while to offer them food, maybe two weeks after is ok, i had babies not eat for one month after shed, but they are still alive and doing great.once they shed you can put them on aspen bedding and do not keep them to dry for a couple of months.then u babies will be happy and healthy. hope this reply will help you achieve your hatchling problem. thanks mark

I put all my hatchlings in my Vision Hatchling rack once they have completely come out of the egg. I use paper towels as substrate, sometimes 2 thick, for no real reason. Sometimes I rinse them off under luke warm water prior to putting them in the tub. Sometimes, I just put them in the tub and the hatching medium/Vermiculite/Perolite comes off overnight. I keep the paper towels fairly damp, using a bit too damp is better than a bit too dry guide. I change the paper towels daily. I give them a small water dish, which is actually a small chip dip bowl I got at Cost Plus. I also use a hide, which is a Vision Hide & water dish combo. They all love it, which reminds me, I need to get more. I never have enough, so the ones that do not get the hide, get extra paper towels to use as a hide. As far as feeding, I wait until they shed, plus about 5 days, so they can thoroughly absorb their yolk. Worse thing you can do is feed too soon. Keep them warm and moist. Good luck!
