I got home a few days ago Brazil. A friend and I were down there for a mutual friend’s wedding in Belo Horizonte, but we stopped off for a few nights in the Amazon on the way down there.

Anyway, we took a 1.5hr boat ride to a motel in the rainforest, which turned out to be quite a place. It rained on us hard almost the entire stay, which made for lot of amphibians to find, but only a few reptiles. Enjoy.

Where we stayed. The water level was extremely high, so we herped by boat, and by exploring the 8-10km in catwalks that snaked through the forest.

Lungfish (probably)

Gladiator Treefrog. We saw quite a few when we were out at night.

A beautiful red-tailed boa (Boa Constrictor Constrictor).

One of the many toads

Squirrel Monkey. These little food-stealers were all over at our hotel.

I wish I had a clear picture of this lizard. 10” long, and very bright.

Eyeshine on one of the many spectacled caiman

I know it’s a little cheesy, but we kept seeing caiman while herping at night, and I couldn’t help myself. I had to jump one. “Crikey!” Haha
