goregrind Jun 20, 2009 07:52 AM

i dont know much about boas but at my local shop they have a small (2.5-3') healthy redtail for sale at 179 and to me it looks like a hypo or a salmon (whats the difference?) should i go for it? its been there a while so im thinking of offering 150. is it a good deal or bad? could it just be a light normal?

Would it be possible for you to get pictures?

Impossible to tell for sure without some sort of visual.

also remember, at a pet store, whether it is a salmon or normal, anywhere from 125-175 is going to be the price, from retail mark up. personally, i would recommend getting a nice salmon from one of the fantastic breeders on this forum. im not a huge boa guy (just getting into it actually), but looking and listening (so to speak) to these guys on here, they have fantastic animals. i would think you could get a nice salmon from one of the awsome guys or ladies on here for about the same price or close to, shipped and everything as the price on the pet store boa. and remember, you get what you pay for, pet stores, are not, at least, my preferred, method of obtaining any animal. working at an emergency/critical care animal hospital for over 12 years now, i see so many pet store animals, of all kind, come in, sick. so just something to store in the back of your brain

i completly agree with your opinion on petstores i feel the same way, but this store is different. its localy owned and im such a frequent customer that they listen to me when i give them husbandry tips and they actualy listen most of the time. and i have watched this boa grow since it was just a little bugger.

i guess you guys answered my main question, which was wether or not it was a great deal or not.

ill try and get a pic and post it but im not exactly tech savvy
