Sorry about the really blurry pics.Didn't have my camera with me last night and this is the best I could do.I was lucky my wife was there and could take these with her cell phone.
Anyway, first time I have ever seen this and thought it was cool.

Have they no shame!?! What's society coming to when even the snakes are affected by the high content of sex on TV and advertising?
Wow! Super cool Shannon. Definitely one of those pssible once in a lifetime "look what I stumbled upon" moments. Pacifics or Basins? Thanks for sharing.

two males in combat! Usually that "corcscrew" posture is characteristic. I've never seen a mating pair do that.

The Avalanche has already started-it is too late for the pebbles to vote....

i was thinking the same thing......

Yep, I was also thinking the same thing. But, I checked them and sure enough it was a pair.I think the reason for the corkscrew action is because the female wasn't interested. She didn't even look like she was ovulating and although I was pretty high up in elevation it is pretty late for this type of action.
I just kinda chalked it up to the wacky ass wheather we have been having.

Anyway, it was cool and I had never seen it before.I have seen 2 males combating before but this was a first.

Hey shannon

Thats pretty cool bro.

I seen something like that once. Just before sun went down. I seen a breeding pair of Great Basins on the road locked up! The funny thing was the female was dead. Her nose got clipped by a car. I dont know if they were breeding at the time death or not. This was about 13 years ago.

shannon brown Jun 23, 2009 10:15 AM

Jason, thats cool on the basins too.
I have found panamint rattlers trying to breed a road kill female before but they wheren't locked up yet.I also found a cal king in the road and not 10 feet away was a fresh hit large female so he was tracking her for sure.
