I almost got my hands on some last year, but someone beat me to em. They are very nice looking.
I ended up getting a pair of ultra anery motleys. They are great looking snakes as well. I also got some ultras het for Lav, so will have some ultra lavs in 3 years or so.

I have a couple, and a bunch of ultramel lavs and lavs that may be just lavs, and opals from ultramel ,but someone mentioned here that opals cannot be ultramel opals due to the ultramel gene and amel being on same locus and all that stuff....yea yea...anyways.....I just never see or hear anything in here on ultra lavs at all (or ultramel lavs except a few)....noone even looks at them .....I should really get pics....they are soooo faded .....it actually would not be a good pic....

OK...Thanxx......Just wondered.....

I am still bummed that I missed out on getting those last year.
But, life goes on. I really like my ultra anery motley pair, though.

Well, heres the thing.. There are two different animals in the pics below.. If you can figure out, without breeding, whats ultra and whats an ultramel, you indeed have the edge on a lot of people..

I believe my friend, Stephen Wagner, that produced the ones below, likely used Steve's lavenders in the base stock production of his ultra/mel lavender line.. I have ultra/mels het for lavender from the same lines.. When I get around to breeding them I certainly will post results..

The thing with ultra/mel is that it can vary greatly and vastly..

JYohe Jun 25, 2009 08:26 PM

yea....like I said...I get purple(lav?) light hypo looking lavs (ultramel lav)and really really light lav (ultras).....the ultramel lavs seem to come in two shades also....which really helps....not....

........as mentioned...just wanted to know if anyone actually had these....noone actually looks at/for them ....

At this point, the only way I know how to know 100% is actual test breeding.. Some people I hgave discussed this with, feel that the ultra's tend to be the darker animals.. Heck if I know, I breed some dark ultra based animals to find out that they were just ultramels..

Regards.. Tim of T and J

JYohe Jun 26, 2009 07:41 PM

.....the ultras are darker?....that still does not make sence to me.....lavs,hypo lav and extra hypo with red eyes...I forgot about the eyes, they too are light in what I thought was ultra lavs......I have not bred any of them,(ultra or ultramel lavs or the opals from this)... I get them all by breeding ultramels het lav .....last year I also bred the ultramel het lav to the lav female I think?....(this year the lav I think was bred to a striped, find out if I read cards ,and in a couple days...)....
....so far I think I gave away one ?"ultramel"? lav and sold just one of the lighter ultramel lavs .....the rest are here, due to noone wanting them, looking at them at shows, and because I won't throw them into a box of wholesale 7$ corns......so I have a bunch of them all...and next year I'll breed a bunch to a bunch and see what they throw....???....

...OH OK>...I bred a pair of ultramel het lav to each other? would I get any Lavender, plain old lavs? or would they all be ultramel or ultra lavs???....

.....and is there such a thing as an ultramel opal?....

.....I liked anery x amel better .....LOL.....genetics....
.....I really don't like the guy that mixed that grey rat with a corn anymore.......

Ultramel het Lavender X Ultramel Lavender=

Ultras
Ultras het Lavender
Ultra Lavenders

Amels
Amels het Lavender
Amel Lavenders (opals)

Ultramels
Ultramels het Lavender
Ultramel Lavenders

There will be NO Normal/classic corns with this pairing due to Ultra and Amel both being on the same alelle.
Couldn't say how you'd tell any of them apart - except the amels and opals should be pretty obvious. Ultras and Ultramels
are very close in appearance, and the only true way to know is by test breeding against a regular amel.

TandJ Jun 27, 2009 03:52 PM

My bad, it should say ultramel het lavender X ultramel het lavender, again, my bad...
